Artists Statement

I have a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art.  I remain loyal to oil painting and drawing.  It is what I love to do.  I am at my happiest in my studio listening to music with a flat edged paintbrush loaded with paint in my hand.  The texture of my paint and direction of my brushes allow me to show how I feel about the subject.  I believe that painting should be an essentially hand-made creation, concerned with human responses.  My paintings are about light, colour, and gesture.  I incorporate my personal memories and my identity into my work which is representational and impressionistic.  Whenever I see and unusual scene, or something of beauty, I try to remember the feeling and the sight of it. I am always excited to show my drawings and paintings to others to see their reaction.

Art Prizes
I won the International Women’s Art Competition at Croydon College 2005.

Personal Aims
I paint and draw in my home studio. I intend to continue to sell my paintings in exhibitions and galleries. My influences have been the wonder of the Renaissance and the simplicity of the Post Impressionist period.  Camille Pissarro has been my greatest influence.
